Subject: Sustained Erroneous Billing In spite of Complaints by Vodafone

Please find below an account of the erroneous and highly unprofessional services that Vodafone India has been delivering for the above account number, for the past 4 months.
• On 6th August 2015, I had called up Vodafone Customer Care and availed of Android 3G plan (denoted by MI_C_V_250_30d_R1GB_FU_3G in Bill) and had expressly informed to cancel my on-going blackberry 3G plan (denoted by BB_C_V_599 _30D_R1GB_3G in Bill).
• On 21st August 2015, I have received a bill from Vodafone (11.07.2015 to 10.08.2015), which has correctly charged me for Android 3G plan for 5 days, but incorrectly charged me for 5 extra days of blackberry 3G services. Basically, Vodafone had chosen to keep both services activated simultaneously, ignoring my request to disconnect blackberry 3G plan on 6th August. On calling customer care I was promptly informed that the mistake will be corrected in the next bill.
• On September 15, 2015, I have received a bill from Vodafone (11.08.2015 to 10.09.2015), which has again incorrectly charged me for a month of Blackberry 3G plan, instead of reversing excess charges of 5 days in the last month’s bill.
• On September 19, 2015, I had called up Vodafone Customer Care to request for rectification of the above mistakes. This time I also cancelled the International roaming plan that was active on my number with a rental of 149 rs / month. I was repeatedly assured by the customer care officer that the excess charges will be reversed in the following month’s bill, which were ~Rs 750 till now. Consequently, I paid only Rs 1,300 out of a total bill of Rs 1,618.43, generated that month, which was in any case more than what I owed Vodafone.
• On October 14, 2015 I have received again a bill from Vodafone with continued disregard for my requests:
o Blackberry 3G plan was finally deactivated, but I was charged till 19.09.2015
o There was no adjustments for last 2 months’ excess billing
o International roaming charges were again levied for the whole month
o I was charged Rs 100 / - extra for not paying entire bill of Rs 1,618.43
• The above is unwarranted behaviour from Vodafone when service quality is at an all-time low due to regular call drops. It seems like we have reverted to the ‘90s in terms of telephone services.
• I am lodging a copy of this complaint with consumer grievances cell / Telecom consumer complaints body / any other complaint redressal forums that I can find.
• I will also be writing to RBI to enquire whether they have considered your dishonest billing practices / customer harassment while issuing a payments bank license to you and request to put m-Pesa on hold till such clarity is received. I am not sure whether Vodafone India can be entrusted with public money, in the light of the above.
