Anonymous on "RVAOA prohibits bachelor/spinster/student/single staying on Rohan Vasantha"

Its becoming difficult for spinsters and single women to leave in societies now! Such a shame to live in this society. My Apartment society has issued notice to remove all tenants who are not married. Is this kind of discrimination allowed? Where do we stay now, in slums? We thought we would be safe to live in good apartment societies... Now should we get married to stay here!!!

This is the notice that went to all the apartment owners and tenants (totally there are 500+ flats in the society):

Policy-RVAOA has decided to stop issuing NOC for tenants in cases where in the tenant is a bachelor/spinster/student/single working men or women and is going to use the flat inside Rohan Vasantha Apartments with other friends/colleagues/etc. implying that owners and occupiers are prohibited to grant occupancy of their apartment on leave license or lease basis to bachelor/spinster/student/single working men or women. This rule has come into immediate effect and no NOC for rent/Move In will be approved for the above mentioned cases.

Existing tenants- Existing bachelor/spinster/student/single working men or women tenants will have the time till Dec 2013 to discontinue their leases however they may continue till the term of their lease is expiring, but from Jan-Mar 2013 quarter a fine of Rs 6000 for a 3 BHK flat and a fine of Rs 4500 for a 2 BHK flat will be levied on such flats every quarter till the time such units are vacated by the non complying tenants.

Non-compliance - if for some reason any resident is found to be violating the above mentioned rule wherein a fresh lease is signed after the announcement of this policy and there are bachelor/spinster/student/single working men or women are staying in the said unit as a penal measure a fine of Rs 12000 for a 3 BHK flat and a fine of Rs 9000 for a 2 BHK flat will be levied on such flats every quarter till the time the unit complies with the above mentioned rule.

Exceptions- If an owner feels there is an exception that should be considered the same should be brought for the approval of the Managing committee of RVAOA, all decisions taken by the RVAOA managing committee in such regard would be final.

All new tenants moving in RV would need to sign the following declartion

I declare that I will be staying in this flat with my family and would not let this flat be used by friends/colleagues for a prolonged period, I understand that RVAOA prohibits bachelor/spinster/student/single working men or women staying on rent inside Rohan Vasantha, I also understand that if I will violate this rule I will be liable to pay 100% more maintenance amount to RVAOA.
