I got to know about the new year 3G data plan offer from Vdafone through their e-mail campaign.
The offer is about 50% off on the tariff plan for first two billing cycles.
I inquired to take the offer and activate a 2GB - 3G dataplan on 1st Jan 2014. I was told that if I activate the data plan on 1st I would only get 3 days of usage for the 1st billing cycle as my monthly phone billing cycle starts from 4th of Jan.
Then I was advised I should put the activation request 2 days before so I get the plan activated from next billing cycle.
I then waited till 3rd Jan and put the request for activation on 3rd Jan 2014.
Till 4th Jan I didn't get any confirmation about activation of my data plan or any information on the same.
After inquiring again with them, I was told that my data plan is already activated since 3rd Jan 2014 . I told them that I had received no information of the plan activation.
I got the SMS in regards to activation of my plan there after on 4th Jan.
Now coming to the billing, I was told that I have already lost the 50% off billing for the 1st billing cycle and the 50% off would now be available for only one billing cycle.
On 3rd Feb 2014 at about 9-10 pm night I called them and inquired again to conform about the continuity of their offer. They said it would be full charge from next billing cycle. I wanted not to avail the data plan any further and forwarded a cancellation request as advised by their CSE. My plan was deactivated there after 10.30pm on 3rd Feb 2014.
My data usage through out the month was very low about 760 MB compared to the quota I had availed i.e. 2GB.
Now when I received the bill, I was surprised to see the excess Charge of about Rs 400 to my billing on the data usage.
I inquired and lodged a complaint in this regard with their customer care. They didn't seem to do any thing on that and maintained the billing is right. They have charged me for the Data Usage made on 3rd Feb 2014 for whole day, the day I made the de-activation request. Though I have not made any data usage after giving them the de-activation request.

I have called their customer care and also written to their corporate assist help lines but status remains as it was and no supportive action.
I hope this doesn't happen with others and all should take note of the internet data plan activation/deactivation date and times.
