Dear Sir,

I am Meenakshi Khastagir, A/C No. 00881600003954 of HDFC Bank, Sector-18, Noida

On 24-12-2013, I issued 3 cheques in favour of "HDFC Bank A/C Income Tax" in HDFC Bank, Sector-18, Noida, (IFSC Code: HDFC0000088); cheque nos being 873802, 873803 of SBI, Sector-62, Noida and 340068 of SBI, Civil
Lines Bareilly Corresponding amounts were Rs.360, Rs.1640 and Rs. 4397. These cheques were given in the counter along with Income Tax Challans 280 for Tax Demand.

By mistake, Cheque dates were given as 24-12-2014 instead of 24-12-2013.

After a few days (on 07-01-2014), when I went to collect the counter foils of Income Tax Challan along with BSR Code and Sl. No., HDFC bank employee in the above branch said, "You issued wrong (post dated) cheques, we did not release for clearing." I wanted to correct the dates along with my signature. He said, "No, you can not correct. you have to issue fresh cheques."

Again I went on 22nd Jan, 2014, then the same person said, "Madam, you have to resubmit the Income Tax challans also" I am a house wife, 51 years old suffering from osteoarthritis. The bank is around 10 kms away from my residence. I said, why didn't you say on the other day. I have to come to 1st floor every time. He kept quiet.

Then again, I went on 6th Feb, 2014 with fresh cheques and fresh challans and said to give me back the post dated cheques of 24-12-2014. He refused to give. Then I met the brach manager. I requested him either you cancel/destroy the cheques or return to me. He too refused to give the cheques back. Rather he advised to go to SBI and issue a request for stop payment.

I phoned up my relatives and friends who are holding senior positions in SBI, PNB. All of them said, they should not have done this.

Being a bonafide account holder, my expectation in a reputed private bank like HDFC was very high. I rather expected on the 1st day itself, i.e. on 24-12-2013, the HDFC person should have pointed out the mistake or could have given a call. Instead, I had to go 4 times with
no result.

I will be grateful if you arrange to take immediate action so that I get back my old cheques and challans which they are holding unnecessarily.
I had other bad experiences of losing money due to careless wrong entry into the computer from the same branch also. But I will narrate that after this complaint is settled.
