I had opted for a post paid 3G data plan on my Vodafone number 8860021441. My talk plan as per Vodafone was MBB_VOL_30d_250_1GB_3G. I was told by the customer service executive at the Vodafaone Happy to Help Centre at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad that my plan is having a rental of Rs. 250 for which I would be getting 1GB data for 30 days.
Ever since I subscribed for this Plan, from the first month onwards, ie. From March 2014 onwards, I started to get exaggerated bills running to more than Rs. 2500/- . I approached the Vodafone Customer Care Centre at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, UP again and requested the Customer Care Executive to discontinue the Scheme. But the Executive insisted that I keep the number and that he would give me discount. The executive told me that the plan I had opted is a 3G plan and is very fast and comsumes a lot of data on my laptop. But I was sure that I had not used more than 750 MB data. Making some correspondences on his computer to someone, he asked me to pay a discounted sum of Rs. 400/- only. I paid the amount and kept the SIM Card, but changed it from my laptop to my android mobile phone and started monitoring the data I am consuming. In the month of April, 2014, though I had consumed only less than 500 MB I again got a bill for more then Rs. 2000. Again I approached the Customer Care Centre at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, UP again and requested the Customer Care Executive to discontinue the Scheme. But the Executive insisted that I keep the number and that he would give me discount. He again made some correspondences and asked me to pay Rs. 400 something. This procedure continued in the month of May also. At last, I insisted the executive to discontinue the number, but he wouldn’t relent. Fed up with Vodafone and to know what Vodafone would do if I did not use the SIM at all, in the first week of July, I took off the SIM from my cell phone, destroyed it and threw it in the wastebin. But exactly as I anticipated, on 16th August, 2014 I got a bill from Vodafone informing me that during the period 06.07.2014 to 05.08.2014 I have consumed 1.51 GB of data ( as in all the previous bills) but this time, the amount charged was Rs. 6,314/- However, Vodafone has been very kind to offer me a discount of Rs. 4194 thus asking me to pay a sum of Rs. 2626/- by 24.08.2014.
This bill generated and issued to me by Vodafone is fake, bogus, fraud and cheat as I have not used this SIM (8860021441) during the month of July and August as the same has been destroyed. This is a fraud committed by Vodafone and totally against the spirit of TRAI and MRTP Act and challenges all the existing laws in this country. It is not understood how Vodafone has generated such a huge bill when I have not used the SIM at all.
Vodafone is directed to provide me the details of how many times this SIM (8860021441) has been used during the bill period. I am approaching TRAI and the Consumer Redressal Forums against Vodafone. In this context, I would also like to remind that I had a very harrowing experience when I wanted to discontinue my earlier held Vodafone post paid number 9873452236. It was only after taking up the matter very seriously that Vodafone agreed to discontinue my earlier number. Since the bill generated and issued to me now is fake, bogus and fraud I request TRAI to take action against Vodafone as it will be very clear if the fact of the usage of this SIM(8860021441) is confirmed from them.
